Diamond Glow made history when she overcame a tough run to win the $150,000 VOBIS Gold Carat (1000m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Sold by Magic Millions as a weanling and a yearling, Diamond Glow is the first horse to capture a VOBIS Gold race since the introduction of the new Victorian based scheme.

A member of the powerful local stable of Peter Moody, Diamond Glow started the favourite for the debut but had to overcome difficulties to record an impressive one and three quarter length victory.

The Bel Esprit filly couldn't have been more impressive, hitting the line strongly under Vlad Duric to score well.

"From the time she found her rhythm she was beautiful," Duric said. "I was wide and she just collected herself nicely to show really good gears and a good turn of foot."

Moody's stable spokesman Tom Brideoake was thrilled with the performance of the highly talented youngster.

"She did that (missing her start) in both of her jump outs also but it didn't worry her," he said. "Her temperament around the stable is terrific and we can't fault her so I think we'll move on and hopefully chase some black type."

The promising youngster was originally sold to Magic Millions as agent for $60,000 at the 2011 National Weanling Sale before making $110,000 when offered by Eliza Park at January's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The buyer as a yearling was the Gold Coast's Grant Morgan of Ontrack Thoroughbreds. Diamond Glow continued a golden run for her sire, Eliza Park based star Bel Esprit - sire of world champion sprinter Black Caviar and Magic Millions 2YO Classic fancy, unbeaten youngster Clevadude.
