DAMIEN Oliver will miss next Saturday's Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley while Glyn Schofield will miss the Chelmsford Stakes meeting at Randwick after both were suspended today at Caulfield.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Oliver and Schofield each for eight meetings on careless riding charges.

Oliver, who was suspended for his ride on Commanding Jewel, will begin his suspension after he rides at tomorrow's Sale meeting. Schofield, who was suspended for his ride on Amicus, will begin his suspension immediately.

Both jockeys said they would not appeal after pleading guilty to careless riding charges that were viewed in the low range.

While Oliver and Schofield were the only two jockeys that were suspended, chief steward Terry Bailey expressed his disappointment at the spate of interference during the nine race card.

"If that's what's going to be dished up to us we're not going to back off," Bailey said.

"If that's what we're going to cop, we'll get tougher." (Racing Network)
