The report adds: Confirming the form around Golden Rose winner Denman, the David Payne-trained More Than Great prevailed by a nose over So You Think, with the 1400m race run in 1 minute 21.03 seconds, eclipsing the former course record held by group 1 star Grand Armee.
''He's a bloody good colt this one, don't know how good he is just yet,'' Payne said after More Than Great justified heavy backing from $2.40 to $1.95.
While So You Think's trainer, the master Bart Cummings, was plotting an assault on the Caulfield Guineas and a potential clash with Denman, Payne was reserved about that race, which will be run on October 10, preferring to discuss the plan of attack with More Than Great's owners.
