Glen Boss is confident he can combine with another talented staying mare to claim a feature event over Flemington's iconic 3200-metre circuit this Saturday.
The champion jockey will partner Kirribilli Gold in the $150,000 Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes, the feature event on an eight-race Victoria Racing Club program.
The Robert Smerdon-trained six-year-old is not in the class of Makybe Diva, who Boss rode to her hat-trick of Melbourne Cup wins, but the jockey is convinced she is going well enough to win the Andrew Ramsden Stakes.
The daughter of Made Of Gold strolled home at Sportingbet Park (Sandown) last Wednesday, having won a maiden hurdle in even easier fashion at Warrnambool seven days earlier, and Boss is thrilled to be hopping aboard.
"She's flying at the moment, as you've seen by her last two wins," Boss, who rode the Smerdon-trained Persian Star to win the 2010 Andrew Ramsden Stakes, said on RSN.
"If she gets a bit of cut in the ground she'll be devastating because she's just absolutely flying at the moment. I'd expect her to run the trip (out) and be very, very hard to beat."
Kirribilli Gold, who will carry 55.5kg and jump from barrier eight, will be one of the leading contenders for the Andrew Ramsden, which has attracted a field of 13.
The Mike Moroney-trained Maythehorsebemagic (barrier two) heads the weights at 60kg, while Almodovar (59.5kg, one) and Dame Claire (57.5kg, seven), who ran the quinella in a 2800m event at Flemington on 5 May, Saddlers Story (57.5kg, 12) and Streaky Fella (57kg, six) are among the others engaged.
