GRAHAME BEGG is less than impressed a week of rain is forecast for Brisbane before Saturday's Doomben 10,000 in which the Randwick trainer's galloper All Silent is looking to snare a second group 1 victory, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

It adds: "I'm definitely looking for a fair track. Wet tracks have been frustrating to no end," Begg said yesterday.

"His last three runs have been on pretty average surfaces. He doesn't let down, but what can you do about the weather?"

The Doomben 10,000 is headed by defending champ Apache Cat, with jockey Damien Oliver sticking solid, which has opened the way for Corey Brown to partner the Chris Waller-trained Danleigh. Oliver was on board Danleigh when it resumed from a 13-month spell with a flashing second in the group 1 The Galaxy. On the strength of that run, the champion jockey opted to dump All Silent in the All Aged Stakes, and it proved correct with Oliver on board when Danleigh won a maiden group 1.

Brown, who partnered Apache Cat to victory in the Doomben 10,000 last year in what was the final leg of a five-race group 1 haul for jockey and horse, returns from a careless riding suspension on Saturday. "It was a matter of being in the right place at the right time," Brown said yesterday. It has worked out good, I'm pretty happy. I trialled him before he had a race this time in. He trialled really well, and he has been racing super."

The Anthony Cummings-trained Duporth goes into the 10,000 as a last-start winner of the group 1 BTC Cup at Doomben nine days ago. Victorian jockey Luke Nolen retains the ride.
