Apprentice Matt McGillivray's good start to the new season has come to a stop with a suspension at Caloundra.

In-form Queensland apprentice Matt McGillivray's momentum has been halted by a careless riding suspension.

McGillivray was found guilty of interference aboard Snow Fields in a race at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday and outed from August 18 to 27.

He is already riding on a stay pending an appeal on an earlier suspension to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

The apprentice returned to riding in Queensland earlier this year after a stint in NSW and has ridden four metropolitan winners to start the new season.
