Officials have made an early call to move a Gawler metropolitan race meeting back a day due to the forecast of hot weather.
Forecast for hot weather on Saturday has prompted South Australian racing officials to put the metropolitan meeting at Gawler back a day.
Thoroughbred Racing South Australia announced the change on Tuesday.
"TRSA advise due to extreme weather forecast for Saturday 6 January, the Gawler Saturday meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday 7 January and the Naracoorte Sunday meeting has been rescheduled to Monday 8 January," TRSA said on Twitter.
The forecast for Melbourne on Saturday is 41 degrees, with Victorian officials yet to announce whether there will be any change to the Caulfield meeting scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
