The Ballarat racecourse (renamed Sportsbet Racecourse) has two grass tracks and a tier one training facility. It is one of the premier provincial horse racing tracks in Victoria with an average of 30 race meetings held each season. The track is 1900 meters in circumference with a long straight of 450meters. Races take place anti-clockwise over distances ranging between 1000 and 3400m. Main races include: The Ballarat Cup, an open handicap run over 2200m in November – the final main event of the Spring Carnival. And the Porter Plant Cup, a weight-for-age handicap over 1400m on 18 June. Races at the Ballarat Racecourse include flat, steeple-chase and hurdle racing. Sportsbet racecourse offers racegoers Bistro and Tier Terrace dining overlooking the final straight. Full membership brings with it reciprocal rights to the Old Colonists Club and other racing clubs.
