The Royal Randwick Racecourse, in the Eastern Suburbs, is a 2224 meter rectangular track with rounded bends. The 410 meter straight to the finish is slightly elevated (known as The Rise). Races are run clockwise between distances of 1600 and 3200 meters. The Autumn Carnival is comprised of eight Group 1 races among them are: The Doncaster Handicap (Open handicap over 1600m) – 12 April, Sydney Cup (Open handicap over 3200m) – 18 April, AJC Australian Oaks (3 year old with set weight over 2400m) – April 20. The Royal Randwick Race Club boasts a six-level grandstand commanding sumptuous views of the track and city beyond. The ground floor Kensington Room allows diner an uninterrupted view of the front lawn and Theatre of Horse outdoor amphitheatre. The Grandview Room and Chairman’s Club are on level 1; a spacious ballroom on level 2. Level 3 is fronted with floor to ceiling glass allowing full view of the course. Among its many, highly praised event-spaces are: The Owner Pavilion, Oakes Lawn Marquee, and the Doncaster Room. Club memberships and corporate boxes are available upon enquiry.
