The Morphetteville Racecourse (aka Alan Scott Park) is home to the South Australian Jokey Club. The track is a slightly squashed oval shape of 2339 meters, with a finishing straight measuring 334 meters. Races are run between the distances of 1000 and 3200 meters. Feature races include: The Adelaide Cup (3 year old Group 2 over 3200m ) – March 9 2015, Australasian Oaks (Open Group 1 over 2400m) – 19 April, and the Goodwood Handicap (Group 1 set weight handicap over 1200m ) – 10 May. The Morphetteville Racecourse contains an abundance of fine dining, social and conferencing venues. Among them are: The Chairman’s Room - A relatively intimate space on the first floor of the Grandstand overlooking the finishing post. The Derby Lawn Picnic Sites – Grassed picketed enclosures abutting the final bend of the track. And the Tapestry Pavillion – A double storey grand pavilion marquee with dining, café, and balcony overlooking the grounds and track. Memberships, corporate suites, and special functions are very welcome and available upon enquiry.
