The Geelong Racecourse is a major Victorian provincial racing venue. It’s perfectly oval track is 2043 meters in circumference, with a 400 meter final straight. Races are run anti-clockwise on a highly regarded all-weather synthetic surface. The club hosts around 35 meets a year, but will take races when poor weather conditions threaten other venues. Major races include: The Geelong Cup, (unofficially known as the lead up to the Melbourne Cup - as in recent years three winners of the Geelong Cup have gone on to win the Melbourne Cup Media Puzzle, Americaine, Dunaden), The Geelong Cup is run 13 days prior to the Melbourne Cup and is an automatic qualifier for it. it is an open handicap over 2400m,. Dining and function venues include: The Briseis Function Centre – the Silks Room – located on the Briseis Stand, has full glass frontage overlooking the track, seated dining area, outdoor/ balcony dining, dance floor and audio equipment for hire. Memberships and corporate enquiries are welcome through the club.
