The beautifully manicured Cluden Racecourse has a 1680 meter track with a 310 meter finishing straight. The track is bean shaped, has sweeping turns and is slightly downhill from the 1000 meter chute. Races are run clockwise over 30 days throughout the year. Because of its impressive gardens and manicured track the Cluden Racecourse has grown to be one of the most successful provincial tracks and entertainment venues in North Queensland. The standout Townsville Winter Racing Carnival is held each July. Feature races include: the Ladies Race day and ends with the Townsville Cup, an open 2100m event that gets national coverage. The Cluden Racecourse has Marquee function space outside the Administration building (by the mounting yard). Corporate rooms are available for hire in the historic grandstand. Memberships and corporate sponsorship are available upon enquiry through the Townsville Turf Club.
