Profile
The Hawkesbury Racecourse is 2070 meters in circumference with a 380 meter straight. The track is laid with kikuyu grass over a sandy loam base and affords excellent drainage. The final bend has a 6% camber, with the rest of the straight having a 2% cross fall. So highly regarded is the track it has attracted trainers such as Gai Waterhouse and her horses. Races are run clockwise between the distances of 900 and 2300m twice weekly. Some of the more notable races include: The Hawkesbury Gold Cup Ladies Day (which includes the Myers Fashion on the Field), a Group 3 open handicap race run over 1600 in May. The Hawkesbury Guineas, another Group 3 open handicap, but run over 1400m, also in May. The Hawkesbury Crown, a Group 3 open handicap for fillies and mares run over 1600m, also in May. The Hawkesbury Race Club offers dining and function venues to suit everyone. Some of them include: The Horizons Lounge, first floor of the grandstand, overlooking the straight and providing fine dining with stunning views of the Blue Mountains. The Gold Cup Members Bar, with access to the Grandstand it overlooks the entire race course and winning post. And the cozy Riley Mile Lounge offering fine dining overlooking the betting ring. Membership and function enquiries are taken through the club.
