Profile
The Canterbury Racetrack is sometimes thought of as a little brother to Randwick and Rosehill. Its squashed oval track is 1567 meters in circumference with a straight of 308 meters. Races are run clockwise over distances ranging between 1100m and 2800m. The Canterbury Racetrack is the only NSW venue to host night racing. The track is now used primarily for midweek racing, however it still boasts two feature races: The Canterbury Classic (3 year olds and up over 1100m) – January, the PJ Bell Handicap (3 year old handicap over 1200m) – April. The Guineas Restaurant, at Canterbury Park, offers A la Carte’ dinners on level 3 of the Clyde Kennedy Grandstand, overlooking the track. The Phar Lap Bar provides light food and licensed service at the very top of the Grandstand. Deluxe Picnic Hampers (for four) may be purchased at the ground level of the Clyde Kennedy Grandstand and enjoyed on the lawn abutting the finishing turn.
