Caulfield is one of the most famous race tracks in Australia and each spring racing carnvial it stages the famous Caulfield Cup.

The Melbourne Racing Club holds meetings 60 times a year and Caulfield is its leading race track. Their other track, Sandown, is mainly used for midweek and winter racing to help maintain good condition of the Caulfield grass.

Caulfield Racecourse features many feature races including the Caulfield Cup, Caulfield Guineas, Blue Diamond Stakes and the Orr Stakes.

The track has a triangular shaped layout, comprising three straights, 30 metres wide, with a total circumference of 2080 metres and a finishing straight of 367 metres. All turns have a 4% to 6% banking. Racing takes place in an anti-clockwise direction. The totally glassed in Rupert Clarke stand provides an uninterrupted view of the racecourse.
