WITH Friday's Gosford trials washed out by rain, Gai Waterhouse will send Melbourne Cup favourite The Offer south.

The Offer was one of 28 horses that Waterhouse had entered for Gosford trials, but the sustained rain in New South Wales over the past 10 days has seen the trials abandoned.

Mark Newnham, the racing manager for Waterhouse, said it had been decided to put The Offer, rated by Sportsbet as a $11 favourite for the Melbourne Cup, on the float bound for Melbourne.

Newnham said Driefontein would accompany The Offer to the Melbourne stables.

He said The Offer, which is scheduled to resume in Saturday week’s Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600 m) at Moonee Valley, would likely gallop at the track on Tuesday morning.

Tommy Berry will ride The Offer in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes and he’s also been booked for two Godolphin runners - Orujo in the McEwen Stakes and Berimbau in a 3YO Fillies race.

As from tomorrow all Sheikh Mohammed's horses, regardless of who trains them, will race in the Godolphin
