Hong Kong based jockey Brett Prebble will return to Flemington on Saturday to ride the Gai Waterhouse-trained Wandjina in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m). Another expat hoop now riding in Hong Kong, Nash Rawiller, who will be on the Chris Waller-trained Kermadec. Douglas Whyte, the 13-time champion jockey in HK, will be at Flemington for the plum ride on the Tony McEvoy-trained Alpine Eagle.
With injury felling West Australian three-year-old Disposition, the early $6.50 third favourite in the race, Craig Williams has switched to the Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained Minnesinger, runner-up to Alpine Eagle in last Saturday’s Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m).
Prebble replaces champion jockey Damien Oliver, who lost an appeal against an eight meeting suspension from last Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes meeting. He resumes riding until Sunda.
