Ghibellines, the first colt home in the Golden Slipper Stakes earlier this year, is on his way to Melbourne.

Trainer John O’Shea today told Racing Network the half-brother to last season’s champion three-year-old filly Guelph, will run in the Group 2 $200,000 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday week.

“He’s on a path to the Caulfield Guineas and this race looked ideal for him so he’s on his way to Melbourne,” O’Shea said.

Ghibellines hasn’t started since his eighth in the Golden Slipper and O’Shea said the stable was very happy with that effort.

“We were really happy with the Slipper run and he was the first colt home, so there’s a lot of upside to him and he seems to have come back in really good order,” O’Shea added
